IN THE MEDIA: Breakthrough Qantas contract for Australia’s PC Locs

IT equipment designer and manufacturer, LocknCharge – PC Locs, has today announced a new partnership with Qantas Airways Limited that will see the Company deliver a fleet of customized galley carts to support the airline’s new in-flight entertainment and Apple iPad Q-Streaming service.

LocknCharge – PC Locs will supply Qantas with the necessary equipment to store, transport, sync and charge up to 5000 Apple iPad devices.

These will be deployed on the airline’s Boeing 767 fleet, which will operate on flight routes across Australia and between Australia and Honolulu, Hawaii.

Passengers will be able to stream over 200 hours of on demand entertainment wirelessly direct to the iPad provided to every customer in Business and Economy. James Symons, CEO of LocknCharge and PC Locs, said the...

IN THE MEDIA: LocknCharge turns catering trolleys into onboard iPad ‘sync & charge’ carts for Qantas

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Qantas has started the rollout of its new Q-Streaming wireless inflight entertainment service comes an interesting look behind the scenes. Qantas’ Q-Streaming service will see every seat on Qantas’ B767 aircrafts get an iPad that provides passengers with access to more than 200 hours of content, streamed from an onboard server. Passengers who own an iPad, laptop or smartphone will also be able to view the same content through a separate application, but it is unclear when this feature will be introduced.

The local company has discovered a lucrative niche, developing products to helps schools, universities , businesses and now airlines deal with the growing use of laptops and tablet computers.
